The alleged actions of fertility doctor Norman Barwin have affected countless individuals and families across Canada.

Dr. Norman Barwin

Nelligan O’Brien Payne first commenced a class action against Dr. Barwin in 2016, alleging numerous errors in his fertility practice, including that he used his own sperm to impregnate women during fertility treatment at his clinic. Peter Cronyn and Frances Shapiro Munn are representing the plaintiffs in the class action.

Since we began this class action proceeding, the cases involving Dr. Barwin’s own DNA have attracted significant attention in the media. However, the vast majority of people who have contacted us fall into other categories.

Alison Motluk from the HeyReprotech Newsletter has published a list of the various kinds of discrepancies we have seen arising out of Dr. Barwin’s fertility practice. HeyReprotech is a news service dedicated to reporting and analyzing developments in reproductive technology.

The article highlights the numerous ways people have been affected by Dr. Barwin. You can view Alison’s article here.

For details of the class action, and to read further media commentary, see our webpage here.
