Strains and Sprains

Strains and sprains are soft tissues injuries that can cause lifelong pain and suffering.

Strains and sprains are typically a result of either repetitive actions or accidents, including motor vehicle accidents and slip and fall incidents. Strains occur when the muscles or tendons are overstretched or torn. Sprains occur when ligaments are overstretched or torn. Symptoms that are typically associated with strains and sprains include swelling, bruising, stiffness and limited range of motion. The symptoms associated with soft tissue injuries often take several hours or even days to appear. Consequently, depending on the strain or sprain, such injuries can take weeks, months or even years to heal.

At Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP, our personal injury team will work hard with qualified medical professionals to determine the severity of your strain or sprain.  This is particularly important because soft tissue injuries can be complicated to record medically. Soft tissue claims must be brought within two years of the date of the accident. Contact our Personal Injury Group for a free consultation to determine whether your can bring forward a claim and or be compensated for your strain and sprain injuries.
