Obtaining effective results for class and other group actions
We know that there is power in numbers. Class actions are well suited to employment law matters, leveling the economic power imbalance between individual employees and large organizations, such as corporations or governments. Nelligan O'Brien Payne LLP's Employment Law Group has launched a number of class actions that have been successful in obtaining remedies for groups of employees, which they could not have recovered on their own.
When a number of employees have similar claims against an employer, then it may be possible to consider a class action or a group lawsuit in order to obtain a remedy. Examples of employment issues that may be resolved through class actions include employment standards, terminations or lay-offs, compensation, pensions and benefits, overtime and personal injury, to name just a few. We often provide free information sessions for groups of employees who have recently been affected by termination or layoff. Please contact us to learn more about these sessions.
Current and past group representations
Some of our current and past group representations include Nortel Claims, Plasco Energy Group Claims, Air Canada Pilots Class Action Defence, CANWEST Newspaper Former Employee Claims, Mitel Class Action, and Sanmina – SCI Employees Class Action.
