Erika Young is a lawyer in our Family Law group.
Erika is committed to helping individuals navigate their way through challenging life situations. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, she has called Ottawa home since 2014 and has been a dedicated member of the legal community ever since.
Since her Call to the Bar in 2014, Erika has focused her practice exclusively in family law, where she has become a trusted advocate for her clients during some of the most emotionally challenging times in their lives.
Her primary focus within family law revolves around parenting and child-related concerns. She frequently lends her expertise to families navigating complex and sensitive situations, including contentious disputes and cases involving instances of family violence. However, her expertise extends beyond these areas, and includes cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts, child and spousal support, and property-related issues. Erika understands that every client’s situation is unique, and she prides herself on providing honest, practical, and compassionate advice tailored to each individual’s needs.
One of Erika’s strengths lies in her ability to empower her clients by helping them understand their legal options and guiding them towards choices that align with their ultimate goals. She is also comfortable advocating in court; she regularly appears in the Superior Court of Ontario, and has successfully advocated at the appellant level including the Ontario Divisional Court and Ontario Count of Appeal. Erika’s courtroom experience ensures that her clients receive the skilled representation they need, whether they opt for litigation or negotiation.
Erika was recognized with the “Ones To Watch” designation in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers. This award recognizes lawyers in the early stages of their careers who have exhibited outstanding professional excellence in private practice.
Beyond her legal career, Erika values her time spent with family, cheering on the San Francisco 49ers, and savoring moments on the East Coast.
