Ira
Marcovitch

Ira Marcovitch is an associate lawyer with Nelligan Law and a member of the firm’s Family Law Group.

Ira has been practising family law exclusively for a number of years, and has acted as counsel or co-counsel at conferences, motions, trials and appeals in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. His practice encompasses a wide range of family law issues, including custody and access, child and spousal support, as well as issues relating to property.

Ira is a graduate of Dalhousie University (B.A.) and completed his Juris Doctor at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to joining Nelligan O’Brien Payne, Ira practised law at a well-respected firm in Toronto.

During his time at Osgoode Hall, Ira was a caseworker with the Community and Legal Aid Services Program, was the lead guitarist for the school’s Mock Trial Band, and participated in a number of moots. In addition to a semester abroad at Vrije University, Amsterdam, Ira spent his final semester of law school working with the judges of the Ontario Court of Justice, Metro East Courthouse.

Ira is on the Board of Directors of the Tamir Foundation, a local non-profit organization.

In his spare time, Ira is an avid musician, enjoys cooking, travelling and weight training.
