Yasmin Abbadi

Lawyer

Yasmin Abbadi is an associate lawyer in our Family Law group.

Before pursuing a career in law, Yasmin earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in International Management from the University of Ottawa. She later obtained her law degree (LL.B) with Honours from the University of Kent in England. Drawn to the intersectionality of law, its role in society, and the problem-solving opportunities it presents, Yasmin knew early on that she wanted to dedicate her career to helping individuals navigate legal challenges.

While attending law school, Yasmin was actively involved in advocacy and legal research. She volunteered with the Kent Law Clinic and the Joint Enterprise Appeal Project, and she participated in numerous mooting competitions as a planner, competitor, and judge.

Following her call to the Ontario Bar in June 2022, Yasmin joined a boutique Ottawa Family Law firm, and then joined the Nelligan Law team in 2025. She assists clients in resolving their matters efficiently, whether through alternative dispute resolution or litigation. Yasmin has extensive experience preparing domestic contracts and dealing with parenting, property, and support disputes.

Yasmin has a supportive, understanding, and detail-oriented approach to her practice. She prioritizes clear communication and takes the time to explain complex legal concepts, ensuring that her clients feel informed and empowered throughout the legal process. She is dedicated to achieving practical and effective solutions for those she represents.

Outside the office, Yasmin enjoys attending hot yoga and fitness classes, cooking and baking, and travelling. She provides legal services in English and Arabic.
