Can my existing personal injury case still move forward during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Yes, we can advance our existing personal injury cases during this time.  Most insurance adjusters and  lawyers are working remotely and efforts are being made to move matters forward, narrow legal issues and discuss resolution.  Depending on the nature of the file, we are able to proceed with Mediations and other steps in the litigation process using video-conferencing.  Lawsuits can also be commenced by electronic filing during the pandemic.

Is the firm taking on new personal injury cases during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Yes.  If you or a family member were injured in a car accident, slip and fall or any other serious accident in the last two years and you do not have legal representation, our team is taking on new files at this time.  Typically, we coordinate telephone or video calls with potential clients and lawyers and obtain further information and documentation. For serious cases, this is a free consultation and you will not be billed for it.

We’ve all seen the ads on buses, on TV and blasting from the radio. Personal injury lawyers offering their services in Ottawa and asking you to trust them.

But the devil is in the details. Who are these lawyers? Where are they from? What is their experience?

Free Consultation

We offer 60 minutes of free consultation for serious cases…

We want you to be confident you’ve made the right choice if you decide to work with us. Contact us today.

No win? No fee.

With a Contingency Fee Arrangement, if your case is successful, our legal fees will be paid out of the amount you recover from the other side in a settlement or after a trial for serious cases. Learn more…

What will they charge you?

Local does matter. You do want your lawyer to both know and be known by the judges who will be handling your case. You also want your lawyer to know the medical and rehabilitation professionals in the community to help you get the best treatment. You want your lawyer to know the local experts in order to best build and present your case.

Experience matters. Personal injury law is a minefield. You need to have confidence that your lawyer has the expertise and experience to help you navigate through that minefield.

What you will pay matters. All personal injury lawyers will tell you that you won’t have to pay them unless and until they recover money for you. But how much will they take? Some approaches in regard to fees are fairer to you, the client, than others.

This is one of the two or three biggest decisions you will make in your life. Shop around and ask questions. Ask us too. We’re not afraid to let you put us on the hot seat.

Start with these questions: How many trials, mediations and appeals has the lawyer done? And in particular, how many here in Ottawa? How much experience do they have? How many personal injury cases have they handled? For how long? Ask for examples of cases handled and their outcomes. Request copies of decisions, both for and against. Ask what happened and why in those decisions against.

Ask about the fees that you will be charged when the case is either settled or decided in court.

Most importantly, meet with the lawyer who will handle your case. You must be comfortable with them – this could be a long-term relationship. And ask for details of the full team that will support the lawyer.

Our team takes pride in the fact that we provide top-notch legal service at a price that’s fair for you and us. We have the persistence, the local trial experience and the access to a roster of experts to achieve the best possible outcome at a reasonable fee.

And no matter who handles your file, a partner will oversee a team assembled to be the most efficient and cost effective for you. Since we are part of a full-service firm, our colleagues can handle any other legal needs you may have.

We also work in medical malpractice, such as the class-action we have launched on behalf of patients of Ottawa fertility doctor Norman Barwin.

If you have suffered an injury or the loss of a loved one, give us a call. We offer 90 minutes of free consultation. But do your homework. We want you to be confident you’ve made the right choice if you decide to work with us.

If you wish to contact a French-speaking lawyer or a lawyer who is a member of the Québec Bar, please indicate this when you contact us. Check our French Personal Injury page for more details.

Let US worry about what you need to know.

If you have been injured or someone close to you has been injured or killed, we understand the significance of the losses being suffered. We are there to help put your lives back together.

Over the years we have seen many individuals who have not been aware of the various sources of financial support that are available; have missed important time limitations that prevented them from obtaining full benefits; or have jeopardized their rights by signing off too early on a settlement.

It is our experience that the resolution of financial concerns plays a significant role in the recovery process. It is important in the short and long term to have as much access as possible to the assistance required to deal with the many changes to an injured person’s normal living conditions and environment.

The legal problems in such cases are complicated and require specialized knowledge to find the best solutions. Our experienced Ottawa personal injury lawyers will do everything in their power to help you through this labyrinth and to obtain the financial compensation you need and deserve.
