How do I find the right lawyer?
In most cases you will know if you need the assistance of a lawyer. The more difficult question is what lawyer or law firm should you retain? At Nelligan Law each lawyer selects specific areas of law in which to practice. This practice “focus” allows individual lawyers to keep up to date on the most current legislative changes and case law.
In addition to “area of service” you also need to find a lawyer with the appropriate “level of experience” for your particular situation. Our staff is trained to assist you with finding the right lawyer at our firm.
How much will it cost?
The cost of retaining a lawyer depends on the nature of the legal issue, its complexity, and the time it will take to conclude the matter. For further information, read about Our Fees .
There are a few simple steps you can take to reduce legal fees. For example:
- Provide a written history of the events in chronological order (this does not apply to real estate transactions or will preparation)
- Assemble your documents in chronological order, including all electronic correspondence and documents.
- Provide the name and address of all the parties and witnesses that could be involved in your matter.
- Prepare a brief outline of your thoughts and issues that you wish to discuss with one of our lawyers.
