Michel Nolet Featured in Law Times Article

Indigenous lawyer Michel Nolet was recently featured in an article in the Law Times, “Class action may reach resolution in shorter timeline”.

The article discusses the developing class action related to the “Indian hospitals”. These were operational in Canada between 1945 and 1981, and it is alleged that many Indigenous people suffered abuse and mistreatment at these institutions. You can read the full article here.

Michel believes that the federal government is eager to resolve these kinds of disputes quickly, stating that “There’s an opportunity here to avoid going all the way through with a class action and settling it. I definitely think the governments are more open to engage in settlement.”
