Hebert

Brian Hebert is a partner at Nelligan Law, and one of the two founding partners from Hebert Leal LLP who joined the firm in 2010.

Brian brings to the firm extensive experience in land development, commercial real estate, and financing. He represents a wide variety of home builders in the Ottawa area, and is an expert in matters involving the acquisition, development, and subdivision of real estate for residential housing purposes. He also works on agreements between land owners and municipalities with respect to the installation of municipal infrastructure.

Brian has had many years experience representing commercial lenders, both local and national, on various real estate projects ranging from office buildings to residential subdivisions. He has also been involved with business relationships between the private sector and social housing organizations, which are designed to increase the supply and affordability of social housing.

He has a long-standing interest in continuing legal education, and is a former senior instructor of the Law Society of Upper Canada’s real estate bar admission course. Brian has most recently been recognized in the 2018 to 2021 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of real estate law.

Brian’s practice is very much focused on his clients. He is proud of the personal relationship he has with many of them, enabling him to have a profound understanding of what their concerns and problems are, and how they can be resolved. He has worked with some clients for over thirty years. Brian has extensive knowledge not only of the legal issues at play with real estate matters, but he also understands the related business challenges. He is proactive, driven, and thorough, but always strives to maintain that personal connection with his clients.

Brian is heavily involved with sporting activities outside of the office. He is passionate about mountain-biking and road-biking in the summer, and hitting the ski slopes in the winter. He also loves music, reading, and fine food and wine.
