Frances Shapiro-Munn

What my clients say

I'd like to thank Jessica Fullerton, and Frances Shapiro Munn for their kind support. I’m grateful to them, first of all for taking my case when I feared someone of my modest finances could never secure legal representation for such a big case, but also because as people they were such a lovely buffer against direct contact with the insanity that is the legal system

You are a dream to work with – so grateful for you!

Frances
Shapiro Munn

Frances Shapiro-Munn is more than just a lawyer – she’s a trusted advisor and advocate for her clients.

With a focus on personal injury, insurance defence, estates law and professional liability litigation, Frances has been a vital member of the Nelligan Law team since the beginning of her legal career in 2013.

Frances understands the complexities of litigation and knows how daunting it can be for her clients. That’s why she takes the time to explain the process and ensure that her clients are aware of all their options. Her experience representing both individuals and insurers gives her a unique advantage in supporting her clients, and she’s not afraid to take on challenging and novel cases.

One of Frances’ most notable cases was pursuing the Norman Barwin case, which led to a $13.375 million settlement bringing compensation to those affected by the former fertility doctor using his own semen in numerous artificial inseminations. Her dedication to justice and fairness is second to none.

Frances was recognized in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers with the “Ones To Watch” designation, an award recognizing lawyers who are in the first 10 years of their careers for outstanding professional excellence in private practice.

When she’s not in the office, Frances can often be found playing tennis, hosting barbecues for friends and family, or traveling overseas. She’s passed on her love of tennis to her toddler, and who knows – maybe one day they’ll both make it to Wimbledon!
