Sarah is an Associate Lawyer with Nelligan Law, practicing in our Employment group, with a practice focused on workplace issues including wrongful dismissals, human rights, and workplace investigations regarding a variety of matters, including allegations of serious workplace misconduct. Sarah advises both employers and employees.
Sarah joined Nelligan Law as an associate lawyer in 2025. Prior to joining the firm, Sarah began her career as a criminal defence lawyer before transitioning to working with both employer and employee clients for a large national law firm and large regional firm in Western Canada. Before attending law school, Sarah worked in human resources and developed a strong foundation in navigating and resolving workplace issues.
For employer clients, Sarah advises on all manner of workplace issues, including employee discipline and dismissal, workplace policies and handbooks, and compliance with employment standards and human rights legislation, including workplace accommodation issues.
For employee clients, Sarah assists with termination and severance negotiations (proceeding to litigation, when necessary), advising on restrictive covenants like non-solicitation and non-compete clauses, and navigating challenging situations like workplace bullying and harassment. She has also assisted clients with defamation claims in the employment context.
Given Sarah’s background in criminal law, she has a special interest in assisting employees and executives who have been accused of workplace misconduct, including for serious matters such as theft, fraud, and embezzlement.
When Sarah is not practicing law, she enjoys fostering rescue dogs and is a passionate supporter of various animal rescue organizations. She is also learning French in order to represent clients in both of Canada’s official languages.
