Malini is a partner at Nelligan Law, and a member of our Employment and Labour practice groups.
Malini has a broad-based employment and labour practice. She acts for both public and private-sector employees and unions in a variety of matters including: dismissals, grievance arbitrations, contract negotiations, human rights issues, health and safety concerns, and more. While she represents clients in all industries, she has particular expertise in matters involving the federal public service, the construction industry, and the tech sector.
An advocate at heart, Malini has appeared at all levels of court up to and including the Supreme Court of Canada. She also maintains a busy administrative litigation practice, regularly appearing at tribunals such as the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board, and the License Appeal Tribunal. She is equally comfortable with in-court and out-of-court strategies, and regularly advises clients on both routes to bring a comparative perspective to their cases.
Malini is frequently contacted by Canadian regional and national media outlets to speak on the top employment and labour law issues of the day. She is also an invited member of the Chairperson’s Roundtable, a committee of representatives who regularly appear before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and who provide feedback to the Chairperson about the Tribunal’s policies and processes. Malini is comfortable handling files in English and French.
Since 2022, Malini has been recognized every year with the Best Lawyers “Ones To Watch” designation, an award recognizing lawyers who are in the first 10 years of their careers for outstanding professional excellence in private practice.
Outside of work, you can find Malini posting on her cooking blog; running after her toddler, dog, and cat (in that order); or disconnecting with a long hike in the backwoods.
