Equity, Diversity

& Inclusion

At Nelligan Law, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are ongoing commitments that shape how we work, learn, and engage with our community. EDI is not a box to check or a single initiative: it’s a principle we continue to grow, refine, and integrate into our everyday practice.

What We’re Doing Within Our Firm

We have a dedicated Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee that meets regularly to guide EDI initiatives across the firm. This work includes internal education for employees, updating operational practices, and partnering with community organizations.

Our hiring process also reflects these values. We welcome people with a wide range of experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds, and we strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected and supported.
In Our Work
EDI is also an integral part of our responsibility as legal professionals. We serve a diverse range of clients and often advocate for individuals who have faced discrimination, mistreatment, or human rights violations, or who are navigating unique challenges connected to a protected human rights ground. Our commitment to equity informs how we listen, advise, and advocate.
In the Community

We also partner with local organizations that support and advocate for marginalized groups, and we use our legal knowledge where it can have the greatest impact. This includes offering free legal seminars and educational sessions on topics such as workplace rights, family planning for the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and other areas where accessible legal information helps empower individuals and organizations.
