Class Action – Residential Schools Settlement

Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP is one of the law firms that has signed on to advise former students about their rights and entitlements under the 2007 Residential Schools Settlement Agreement. Members of our legal team were involved in representing the interests of the Inuit in Nunavut at the settlement negotiations. Janice Payne was also a member of the National Certification Committee responsible for having the class action certified and the settlement approved across Canada.

Our lawyers help former students understand their rights under the settlement agreement, by giving advice on eligibility for compensation for sexual and/or serious physical abuse through the Independent Assessment Process (IAP) and any needed representation.
